What a Month- Thank you!!
It has been one month since Vet to Pets took to the roads of Savannah and Hilton Head and surrounding communities and what a month it has been. We had a vision of what we thought pet families in our area wanted and needed to help take better care of their four legged companions but little did we know while still working for a corporate practice it was going to be this amazing.
I became a veterinarian because I loved animals and I wanted to provide the best fear free care to them as humanly possible, however over the years I seemed to feel like I was just going through the motions day in and day out. I knew I needed a change and was not going to get it any other way other than getting out to pet families.
14 years ago my husband and I saw a mobile veterinarian rolling down the road in a van, we laughed and thought it was pretty cool to have the vet come to the pets like equine vets do for horses jokingly we said Vet to Pets. The idea never left our minds...it wasn't the right time.
In February this year my husband could see I was frustrated beyond words and sat me down as I cried on his shoulder, after several hours of talking he said only one thing "whatever it takes, it's time now". I knew it too, but I was scared and worried about everyone besides myself.
I won't bore you with all my hysterics over the next several months but I/we finally did it on June 28, 2015 Vet to Pets Mobile Veterinary Services was born and even though I am still a little scared I couldn't be happier to be doing what I started off promising pets and their human companions I would do the day I stepped into labs at The University of Pennsylvania; providing Fear Free, Compassionate, Personal and Innovative pet health care.
With over a 100 new clients and several that have followed me for many years in the first month of Vet to Pets, I thank you for trusting me and I couldn't be happier. I also have some amazing friends in veterinarian medicine and business that have provided incredible strength in this move and I certainly could not have taken the first step without the support and love of my husband and our family. I know there is a long road and sacrifice ahead but having your support and sharing in a vision that took me 14 years to focus on makes it all worth it.
What an amazing first month and looking forward to an incredible future for Vet to Pets™.
